Vox Mimica is an AI-powered voice transformation application for tabletop role-playing games, allowing players and game masters to create character voices and use them during live sessions.

The project combined brand identity, user experience and interface design, developing the product’s visual language while reworking how users create characters, organise groups, preview voices and move into live play.

Role

  • Brand exploration and identity development
  • Logo design
  • Colour palette and typography
  • UX audit and user journeys
  • Information architecture
  • Wireframing and interaction design
  • User interface design

Brand identity

The identity for Vox Mimica needed to reflect the imaginative world of tabletop gaming while retaining the clarity of a contemporary digital product.

The final logo combines a Viking shield and sword with the letters V, O and X, creating a distinctive emblem that draws on the product’s role-playing roots. The divided shield also reflects the concept of transformation, with one voice taking on different characters and identities.

A flexible set of colour and monochrome variants, supported by a contemporary typographic system, carries the identity across the application and wider brand materials.

User experience

The UX work began with a detailed audit of the existing application, following the journey from account creation and character setup through to voice generation, Discord integration and live play.

The review identified a number of usability issues, including an overly complicated onboarding process, unclear navigation and limited feedback during recording and voice previews.

The proposed redesign introduced two distinct modes, Create and Play, separating character preparation from live use. The revised user journey prioritised character creation and voice previews, simplified access to the application’s core functions and made connection status and credit usage more visible throughout the experience.

Wireframes & interaction design

The revised user journeys informed a series of wireframes exploring the structure and behaviour of the application’s principal screens.

Character creation, group management, voice previews, script handling and live play were developed into a consistent set of interactions, with particular attention to navigation, modal windows and clear feedback during recording and playback.

The wireframes established the application’s layout and hierarchy before the final visual design was applied.

Interface design

The final interface brought the brand identity and revised user experience together in a cohesive visual system.

A dark colour palette, contemporary typography and carefully defined interaction states establish a consistent visual language across character creation, group management, voice previews and live play.

Character cards provide a central point of interaction, with colour-coded outlines, clear controls and contextual feedback helping users identify active characters and understand what the application is doing. Dedicated Create and Play modes distinguish character preparation from live use, while supporting functions remain accessible without overwhelming the main interface.
